Iceland has risen to the top spot on the United Nations' Life Quality Index, moving up two places from last year. The index, developed by the UN Development Program, evaluates factors such as life expectancy, expected years of schooling, and per capita national income. Following Iceland are Norway and Switzerland, while Somalia and South Sudan rank at the bottom.
The report notes that inequality has increased worldwide, with setbacks in several countries over the past year. The UN states that these disparities began before the former U.S. President Donald Trump cut development aid funding, and the exact reasons remain unclear. The organization also suggests that artificial intelligence could accelerate global development if properly regulated.
